Making a real difference to the lives of disabled people in Herefordshire
 
 
ECHO offers opportunities for disabled people to take part in a variety of activities in their local community.
 
We work mainly with people with learning disabilities, but also work with people with mental health issues or physical impairments.
 
We provide flexible services tailored to the needs of the individual. We use community venues to encourage social inclusion. By supporting disabled people to take part in the life of their local community, we enable them to become valued citizens.
 
 
Each week over 6 days and 4  evenings,  ECHO provides more than 90  hours of activities for 200 disabled people.
 
Currently our work falls into 4 main areas:
 
1. Voluntary Work and Training
ECHO offers a variety of opportunities for work experience, training and valued activity for people with learning disabilities, including the ECHO Cards & Crafts shop in West Street Leominster; Lifelinks volunteering teams in Hereford; support to volunteer with other organisations.
 
2. Arts
We believe that creativity offers a valuable means of communication and sharing with others. We provide a number of regular arts activities from craft workshops to music sessions.  ECHO also runs About Face Theatre Company, Herefordshire’s first theatre company for actors with learning disabilities.
 
3. Keeping fit & Healthy
There are lots of ways of keeping fit and we try to offer a range of activities to suit everybody’s taste. Currently these include badminton, football, swimming, yoga, walking, discos and going to the gym.
 
4. Leisure and Social Activities
Supporting friendships and enabling people to join in social activities in their local community is an important part of our work. Throughout the year we support a variety of social and leisure activities. In the summer months we run  a programme of additional outings and visits.
